Diesel Athletic Academy is a premier fitness and wellness center dedicated to empowering individuals of all ages through discipline, kindness, and community. Located in North Brunswick, NJ, the academy offers a comprehensive range of programs, including elite wrestling training, strength and speed development, yoga, and nutrition guidance. With a focus on building strength, skill, and confidence, Diesel Athletic Academy provides expert coaching and technique training for all levels, fostering resilience and a competitive edge both on and off the mat.
Diesel Athletic Academy is proud to officially welcome Gerard “The Joker” Perez as our Lead Wrestling Instructor and program head. Coach Perez will be on the mat on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30, leading technical sessions and mentoring athletes whenever he is not traveling for NCAA and national-level officiating events.
Gerard Perez is not only one of the most respected officials and minds in New Jersey wrestling—he is the most knowledgeable technician and mat tactician we know. That’s exactly why we’re honored to name him as the head of Diesel’s wrestling curriculum and programming development.
While Coach Cabrera remains the Director and Head Coach of Diesel, he proudly takes direction and programming input from his mentor. Gerard Perez has shaped Coach Cabrera’s philosophy from the ground up, and now he brings his decades of experience directly to the Diesel mat.
